GEORGE J. BARKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
GRADUATE STUDENTS
The Foundry Educational Foundation’s screening of award candidates for
final selection by the Barker Fund Committee will be based on the following
criteria, having four major categories each having equal weight. Within each
category, the criteria is listed in descending order.
George J. Barker was an engineering educator, both as a professor at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison and as Chairman of the Metallurgy Department. He
was also engaged in research, involved in the development of clay technology
wherein the Barker-Truog process was born. He also served as President of the
Wisconsin Chapter of AFS in 1956-57.
